Departure Facilities at Terminal 3 Heathrow Airport

Terminal 3 is within the main airport complex off junction 4 of the M4 motorway and is reached through the main approach tunnel - just follow the signs after Terminals 1 and 2.

Terminal 3 have separate Arrivals and Departure buildings and both share Short Stay Car Park 3 which is on the right hand side immediately before you reach the terminal. Covered walkways link the car park with both Departures and Arrivals buildings.

The Departures building has two levels. Level One (street level) contains airline check-in desks. After checking-in you then must go upstairs to Level Two which is the Departures level where the main terminal facilities are.

Heathrow Terminal 3 Check In

Electronic indicators indicate which entry door to use for each airline. The check-in area is split into zones. The overhead TV monitors guide you to the zone and check-in desks for each flight. Zones are marked by overhead signs and are visible from all entry points. Zone A starts at the left of the check-in hall, Zone F is on the right towards the Arrivals building. For those in need of a hand Skycap porters are available for a flat fee of £7 including tip, free to people with special needs.

Facilities at Heathrow Terminal 3

There are limited facilities on ground leval and these include the following:
Luggage Trolleys: Free, available on forecourt outside the terminal. A few can often be found in the car park.
Toilets: At each end of check-in level, both have disabled facilities. Baby care facilities in toilets in corridor to Arrivals beyond Zone F. Showers in toilets in Zone A.
Pay Phones: Plentiful. Faxing available on phone near Zone E.
Currency Exchange: There is one Bureau de Change in the middle of check-in level - Travelex, opening hours 05:00-22:00. Additional facilities are on the Departures level upstairs.
ATMs: None on check-in level - go upstairs to Departures floor.
Information Desk: General airport enquiries desk on check-in level opposite Zone C.
Smoking Area: Limited space, go upstairs to Departures level.
Postal Services: One mail box upstairs on Departures level, with an additional box Airside. Stamps are available at the Booksplus shop on the Departures level. Nearest Post Office is in Terminal 2.
Left Luggage: There is a small excess baggage booth in the middle of the check-in floor but left luggage proper is in the Arrivals building next door (beyond Zone F). Costs are £2.50 per item for up to 6 hours, £3.00 for 12 hours, and £3.50 per 24 hour period. Opening hours: 05:30 - 22:30.

Departures - Level Two: The Departures level is reached by escalators after check-in and by lifts and stairs from other parts of the building. It has many more facilities which include the following.
Toilets: These can be found at each end of the building, there are disabled facilities in both plus a baby changing room at the left hand end near the catering outlets.
Pay Phones: Located throughout the floor. Fax facility on some phones.
Currency Exchange: Two Bureaux de Change in the middle of the shopping row. Thomas Cook opening hours: 05:30 - 22:00, Travelex opening hours: 05:00 - 22:00.
ATMs: Three machines beside the Travelex Bureau de Change handle most international and domestic cards.
Information Desk: There is not a desk on the Departures level, the nearest information desks are on the check-in level downstairs or in the Arrivals building next door.
Smoking Area: There are three smoking areas on this level 1.- On left opposite Booksplus, 2. In the middle opposite Travelex and 3. A Small area in the corridor leading to the Arrivals on right hand side of the building.
Postal Services: Post boxes and stamp machines are in the walkway to the Short Stay car park, also beside the ramp to the Departure gates and there is 1 post box Airside.
Left Luggage: There are no facilities for left luggage on the Departures level, the nearest can be found in the Arrivals area.
Food and Drink: There is a restaurant, a burger bar and a pub on the left hand side of the Departures floor, with a coffee shop towards the right hand end of the shopping row. See our full restaurant & bar listing.

Entertainment: There is a video games area on the extreme right hand side end of the Departures level opposite the pharmacy.
